You're invited to join our new Monthly Group Lesson, crafted specifically for beginner and intermediate musicians eager to expand their skills! Held at Coletrain Music Academy's Buena Vista location, these adult-focused lessons will teach you how to seamlessly blend your instrument with others and understand how your part fits into the bigger picture of a song.

Each week, you'll tackle a new song, exploring every element—melody, countermelody, harmony, form, and solos. We'll kick off each session with a warm-up, targeting the key scales and rhythms for that week's song. After a quick review of the previous lesson, the majority of class time will be spent breaking down the new song, piece by piece. To wrap up, we’ll choose a song to focus on for the next class. Learn more about your instructor HERE.

By the end of the series, you’ll have a full repertoire of songs to bring to open mics, live jams, or just to enjoy playing on your own!

ABOUT THIS CLASS - A LETTER FROM YOUR TEACHER BRANDON KATZ

Welcome to CMA group lessons! We’re excited that you’re considering joining us on this journey to explore the language of music together. Group music lessons offer unique benefits for both new and seasoned musicians that can’t be achieved by playing alone.

In our group setting, you’ll learn how your instrument balances and blends with others, and how your part fits into the broader arrangement of a song. Communication is key in making music, and our group lessons will teach you to connect both verbally and nonverbally with your bandmates and audience.

Each week, we’ll dive into a new song, exploring all its elements—melody, countermelody, harmony, form, and solos. Our lessons will start with a warm-up focusing on the relevant scales and rhythms of the song, followed by a recap of what we covered in the previous session. From there, we’ll spend most of the class learning the components of the new song, and we’ll finish by selecting a song to work on for the next lesson. By the end of the course, you’ll have a repertoire of songs to take with you to open mics, live jams, and beyond.

Whether you’re new to music and curious about playing, or an experienced player looking to enhance your ensemble skills, our group lessons are perfect for you. Come share in the joy of making music together!

Yours in music,
Brandon Katz
